Anthropic opened a waitlist on October 21, 2026, for Claude Duet, an application where Claude acts as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners, including purchasing business supplies. The research preview is available by waitlist to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States, according to Anthropic.

Claude Duet operates on Claude Opus 5.5 and retains the memory, skills, and connected applications from a user’s Claude account. It uses over 6,000 connectors and plug-ins from the Claude Marketplace. The company said the app checks connected accounts every few hours and notifies the user only when action is required. It includes a virtual machine with its own browser, allowing tasks to continue even when a laptop or phone is off. Users receive notifications when a task is completed or requires review.

Anthropic said Claude Duet waits for user approval before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting items. The company described the design as determining “what needs you” and when to seek confirmation.

Payments are processed through Link, Stripe’s digital wallet. Claude Duet confirms the item with the user, Link requests approval for the transaction, and the payment is completed using a virtual card to avoid sharing the user’s real card number. The app also supports checkout at online stores using Shopify’s Shop Pay. PYMNTS reported the launch.

Anthropic said the app is included in Pro and Max plans during the preview and adheres to the same usage limits as the rest of Claude.
